Founded in 1986 by Ralph Schneidewind, then owner of Doc’s Harley-Davidson and son of Doc Schneidewind (original owner), as an outlet to finding more ways for his customers and friends to go riding. Ralph was the first member Kirkwood MO Chapter #2573 and a lifetime member of H.O.G.

In 1998, Patty Bush took over Doc’s for Ralph, who suffered an incapacitating brain aneurysm. Patty loved her H.O.G. chapter and found ways to support us any way she could. She also managed to sneak out of the store to ride with us every chance she could. She learned to drag race from her brother Ralph and continues to ride to this day.

In 2015, Beth Ernst acquired Doc’s Harley-Davidson and we couldn’t be luckier. In Beth, we have another great dealer and partner. Beth does not hide the fact that he loves her H.O.G. chapter, reminds us it is about riding and having fun all the time, and bends over backwards to make sure we are taken care of in every way. Our Chapter number changed to #3637 at this time but we retained our wonderful chapter history.

Our logo has changed over the years but has always focused on our St. Louis roots and our beloved St. Louis Arch.



We pride ourselves on the variety and amounts of rides we have put on over the years and our History is full of fun, memorable rides. Our members dream up and organize our rides. We call them Ride Chairs and Ride Co-chairs. These folks are the lifeblood and hidden gem within our chapter.

We Can Find Any Reason To Go Riding


We’ve conducted poker runs, dice runs, observation rides, scenic rides, parades, scavenger hunts, marble runs and of course the occasional beer run (for end stop libations of course).

We will ride for any reason - Breakfast Rides, Lunch Rides, and Dinner Rides.

And at any time - Day rides, Night Rides, overnight rides and even an Eclipse Ride.

We conduct 4 challenge rides per year that coincide with the 4 seasons.
  • Polar Bear Ride
  • Spring Ride
  • Kirkwood HOG Iron Butt Ride
  • Fall Ride
Ride all 4 no matter the weather and earn recognition and an achievement patch.

We have rides that sound provocative:
  • Triple X Ride
  • LOH T&A Ride
  • Hump Day Hooky
  • Panty Raid Ride
  • Zipper Ride
And rides that sound scary:
  • Frankenstein Ride
  • Penitentiary Ride
  • Underground Ride
  • Haunted Hannibal

We’ve done food-themed rides including a Progressive Dinner Ride, Moonshine Burger Ride, and the Tastes Like Chicken Ride.

We have animal-themed rides like our Warm Springs Ride, Velvet Antler Ride, Tail of the Tiger Ride, and ridden on the Rat Run.

We have an annual Chapter Picnic and every couple years host a Reunion Ride to catch up with older and past members.

We have rides named after places:

  • ABCs Ride
  • Ride to Races (Springfield Mile, Pevely Raceway)
  • South of the Border Poker Run

And rides where you have to figure out the place:

Even in the winter months when the roads are sketchy, we find things to do. Some of our favorite include:

  • Chili Cook-off

We like parades as well:

We are even invited to be a part of other events:
  • We have escorted cheerleaders on to the field at the indoor football game
  • Provided escort for the football team at st Charles
  • Rode and participated in the dedication of the Evil Knievel Ride at Six Flags

We Like To Explore


Every year we have either a 5-day or 9-day ride and have traveled all over this country. Some of our favorite roads and destinations include:
  • Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway
  • Blue Ridge Parkway
  • Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Highway
  • Natchez Trace
  • Talimena National Scenic Byway
  • The Million Dollar Highway
  • Trail Ridge Road
  • Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road
  • Niagara Falls
  • Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Devil’s Tower
  • Blues music in New Orleans and Memphis and country music in Nashville
  • Historic Cody, Wyoming
  • Ouray, Colorado
  • Washington, DC
  • Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson and the Museum
  • Canada

We have groups of members that go to Sturgis, Daytona, Myrtle Beach, Laconia, Ozark Bikefest, Bikes Blues and BBQ, and pretty much anywhere bikers gather.

We Are Riders


We annually recognize the male and female member that has ridden the most miles. We also show off our members that have ridden 10,000 or more miles each year. It is a pretty long list.

Our Chapter won the inaugural National H.O.G. Ride 365 with 954,285 miles in 2018.

We followed that win with a repeat in 2019 with 971,172 miles.
In addition to our own rides, we have members that are true Iron Butt riders. They have earned achievements including: Saddle Sore (1,000 miles in less than 24 hours), Bun Burner 1500 (1,500 miles in 36 hours), and Bun Burner 1500 Gold (1,500 miles in less than 24 hours).

We have put on several Iron Butt Association sanctioned rides for our members.

We Play Well With Others

We ride with other H.O.G. Chapters and are a leader in our Bi-State H.O.G. committee that has put on:
  • Gypsy Tours
  • Bi-State Friendship Rides
  • Bi-State Rodeos
And we have great partnerships and strong friendships with H.O.G. Chapters across the nation including:
  • Alton H.O.G.
  • Milwaukee H.O.G.
  • Ozark Mountain H.O.G.
  • St. Charles H.O.G.
  • Stone Celts H.O.G.

We Are Patriotic

We tend to be a fairly patriotic bunch and have veterans that represent all the armed forces and even a few active duty riders.

We host an annual 4th of July Flag Raising with our friends AMVETS Post 1 Riders, Kirkwood Fire Department, Faithful Few Motorcycle Ministry, Kim Cervantes and Survival Flight.
  • We take an active role in the Veterans Day Parade every year both as riders in the parade as well as spectators along the parade route.

  • We’ve been a part of the Fallen Heros’ Ride and provided moving escort for The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.

We Are Active In Our Community

Our Members also also active with select local charities and community support projects including:
  • Race for the Cure street blocking – we are the one and only motorcycle group trusted with the safety of the runners and walkers on downtown streets
  •  
  • We host an Annual Kirkwood H.O.G. Blood Drive
  •  
  • Toy Rides for St. Vincent’s Childrens’ Home, for Shriners Hospital for Children and for the Great Circle/ Edgewood Center for autistic children

  • We raise funds for and attend the Backstoppers Guns ‘n Hoses charity boxing
  •  
  • And of course, we have adopted a section of Kirkwood Road that is actively maintained by our Adopt-A-Highway crew.


Our Volunteers Make It Happen

We are entirely a Volunteer-led organization.

We have seen great success because dedicated individuals have stepped up at every level to make our rides and events so successful.

If you are or have been a member and have volunteered to help with -
ride sign-ups, poker run stops, selling 50/50 tickets, picking up trash with A-A-H, chairing a ride, co-chairing a ride, being an Ambassador, writing articles for the PigSheet, being a Road Captain, event set-up, being an officer
- then YOU are why we have been so successful.

Thank you to all the volunteers that make this all possible.
We also recognize our Chapter Leaders. Our Directors are the most passionate, most engaged, most caring, hardest working, most dedicated individuals and have chosen to direct all that energy in making our Chapter the number 1 chapter in the nation. A special thanks goes out to all of them.
